Today we’ll be discussing color and how it can not only affect your mood but also the feel of your home.
Studies show that color affect your mood. Happy people choose bright happy colors such as yellow, oranges, pinks, reds. Moody or stern people choose darker greens, reds, blues. No matter your personality, science shows us that color effects different people in many ways.
This is a guide to which colors work best in various rooms of your home:

Here is a good example of a basic color wheel and where can uncover the mysteries of the relationship between colors. Looking at it and selecting a color, look at the color on the opposite side of the color chosen. This is the color which compliments / works well with the chosen color hence the name complementary colors. Example: Red and Green / Orange and Blue. This isn’t set in stone and variants of the colors can be used.

Complementary colors:
The example of Red and Green, which reminds some people of Christmas, however we are using variants of the colors in this illustration below. Instead of a straight Green we see a Sea Green / Aqua / Teal together with a distressed Red.

Triad colors:
This is where designers use 3 colors. These colors combined are spaced equally on a color wheel. Example: Chosen color – Yellow Opposing colors Red and Blue
Once again colors can be used straight creating a striking pallet or variants of the colors to create a balanced scheme.

Split Complements:
An exciting variant of the Triad color scheme is the Split combination. This is how, example, the color Green is selected as the primary color to the scheme. Directly opposite is Red. Here is the trick, by choosing the color direct left and right of Red, results in, Green, Orange and Purple.

Analogous Colors:
This is the result of choosing colors next to one another on the color wheel and makes a classical design.

Monochromatic Colors:
Or simply put, tone on tone, color scheme. A single color is the basis of the scheme together with variants of that color. A misconception exists that beige is the tone on tone, however any color can be taken example; Black, Grey, Silver
